AC Repair in Millwood
When your air conditioner blows warm air, cycles nonstop or won't start, we track down the real cause and fix it. You get a clear explanation, a written quote before any work begins, and a technician who covers the floor and treats your home with care.
Getting your home cool again, without the mess
Nearly every AC failure traces back to a few parts: a dead capacitor, a worn contactor, a blocked drain line, a dirty condenser coil or a refrigerant leak. We test each of them rather than guess, so you only pay for what actually broke.
We also understand that a repair means someone new walking through your home. Our technicians put on shoe covers, spread drop cloths by the furnace or air handler and keep tools out of the landscaping around the outdoor unit. Before leaving, we go over what we found and what we fixed.
When a system is too old for a repair to be worth it, we say so plainly and leave the choice to you. Nobody will push you to replace a unit that still has years left.
What an AC repair visit includes
- Full system diagnosis
- We check electrical components, refrigerant pressures, airflow, the thermostat and the condensate drain. Say yes to the repair and the money you paid for that diagnosis comes off the repair bill.
- A written quote first
- You see the repair and the cost in writing before any work begins. Nothing gets replaced until you say yes.
- Common part replacements
- Capacitors, contactors, fan motors, relays and thermostats are the usual fixes. We carry many of these on the truck so a single visit often finishes the job.
- Refrigerant leak checks
- Low refrigerant means a leak somewhere. We look for the source and talk with you about repairing it, rather than just topping off a system that will lose its charge again.
- Coil and drain cleaning
- A packed condenser coil or a clogged drain line can shut a system down or cause water damage. We clear both and check that water drains where it should.
- Floor and yard protection
- Shoe covers indoors, drop cloths at the equipment, and care around the plants and gravel near your outdoor unit. We clean up and haul away old parts.
Signs your air conditioner needs repair
Warm air from the vents
Air moves, but it's hardly cool. A bad capacitor, a dirty coil or a low refrigerant charge is often behind it.
The outdoor unit is silent
When the indoor fan is running but the outside unit stays quiet, the cause is usually electrical. Switch the system off at the thermostat until we can check it.
Frozen refrigerant pipes
Ice on the outdoor copper line or the indoor coil means airflow is poor or the charge is low. Running it like that puts the compressor, the most expensive part of the system, at risk.
Short cycling
Starting and stopping every few minutes wears out parts fast. The house also feels damp and sticky, since the unit never runs long enough to remove moisture.
Puddles near the furnace or air handler
A blocked drain line or a cracked pan can soak floors and drywall. Call before the water mark grows.
Buzzing, grinding or a burning smell
A buzz often points to a capacitor or contactor on its way out. If you hear grinding or smell burning, turn the system off and call us.
How a repair visit goes
- 1
You call, we listen
Let us know what the system is doing and when it began. We pick a time that suits you, and if it breaks down in a heat wave, our 24/7 emergency HVAC repair has no emergency or after-hours fees.
- 2
We arrive and protect your home
Your technician says hello, slips on shoe covers and spreads drop cloths before working on anything. With kids or pets at home, we leave doors and gates exactly as you prefer.
- 3
Testing and straight talk
After testing, we show you the worn part when it's visible and explain your options in plain words. You get the repair and price in writing to read over, and no parts are changed until you approve.
- 4
Fix, confirm and tidy up
With the new part installed, we run a full cooling cycle and measure the air at your vents to make sure it's working. Old parts go in our truck, drop cloths are the last thing we pick up, and the area is left as clean as we found it.

What affects the cost of AC repair
Most of the bill comes down to which part failed and how hard it is to reach. Replacing a capacitor is a very different job from replacing a compressor, so we pin down the cause before quoting. You'll see the price before any work starts.
- The part that failed
- Minor electrical parts cost much less than a fan motor, a coil or a compressor. Refrigerant problems add the cost of fixing the leak and recharging.
- Age and type of system
- Some older units run on refrigerant that is costly and hard to get. Certain brands and models also have pricier parts.
- Access to the equipment
- Units tucked into an attic or crawlspace mean extra time crawling, shifting insulation and handing tools in. An air handler in an open garage or basement is faster to get to and repair.
- Timing of the visit
- Late summer, with smoke keeping windows closed and systems running hard, is when we're busiest. Rates don't change, but calling early gives you more appointment options.
AC repair questions
Something not covered here? (509) 516-1280
My AC is getting up there in years. Should I still repair it?
If the unit is under about 12 years old and the problem is small, repair usually makes sense. Past that age, on a refrigerant that's been phased out, or with a failing compressor, a new system can be the better use of your money. We explain both options honestly and you decide. New systems from our AC installation work come with up to 3 years labor on new installations.
Is there a fee to diagnose the problem?
Yes, we charge a diagnostic fee. If you go ahead with the repair, that fee goes toward the final bill rather than adding to it. You'll have a written quote before any work begins, so you can decide knowing the whole picture.
Do you come out nights and weekends?
We do. Our 24/7 emergency HVAC repair runs through nights, weekends and holidays, with no after-hours or emergency surcharge added. An AC that dies in a heat wave is worth a call.
Do you hold a Washington registration?
Yes. We operate under WA Contractor Registration #KDHEAHA757JA and also hold a gas heating mechanical license, so we can take care of your furnace too once it gets cold, through our furnace repair service.
Will my floors end up dirty?
They shouldn't. Shoe covers go on indoors, drop cloths go down where we work, and we clean before we leave. Around the outdoor unit, ladders and tools stay off your lawn and plants.
What helps prevent another breakdown?
An annual tune-up finds weak capacitors, dirty coils and blocked drains before they shut the system down. Our maintenance plans come with tune-ups, discounts on repairs and priority scheduling.
